The ocean is the lifeblood of our planet. Having spent most of my adult life planning, saving for, and visiting many of the world’s best scuba diving locations, I have truly seen and experienced the plethora of beauty the ocean has to offer. With that I have also witnessed frightfully rapid climate change in every corner of the planet. Among our greatest allies in diagnosing, conserving, and restoring the health of our world’s oceans is Scripps Institution of Oceanography in San Diego. When Chef Andrew Spurgin asked me to photograph an event celebrating the charitable donors of the school I jumped at the chance. I don’t have words enough to thank Scripps or its supporters.
The event showcased local sustainable fisheries. A variety of dishes, prepared by some of San Diego’s, Baja’s, and by extension the world’s best chefs, dazzled Scripps supporters. Please consider taking action to help restore our oceans. Things as simple as supporting businesses and markets that source their seafood responsibly can make a big difference. If you would like to help Scripps continue their vital work visit this page. Thanks for visiting and enjoy the photos!
